  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cups fancy molasses
  • 1/2 cup cooking molasses
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon clove
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


In large bowl, beat butter with sugar until fluffy; beat in eggs, fancy molasses and cooking molasses until combined.

Whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda and salt; stir in flour mixture, blending with hands if necessary to knead dough together.

Divide in half; flatten into discs. Wrap each in plastic wrap; refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.
