Grilled Dessert French Toast

Fresh raspberries or blueberries may be used instead of strawberries. A simple drizzle of maple syrup is also delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strawberry
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 slices pound cake at least 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick
  • icing sugar

Method

Hull berries. In bowl, mash berries with sugar to form sauce; set aside.

In pie plate, whisk together eggs, milk and vanilla. Using 2 spatulas, dip pound cake slices into egg mixture for about 10 seconds per side.

Gently transer to greased grill; cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes per side or until lightly toasted. Serve at once with a dusting of icing sugar and strawberry sauce.
