Make many different shapes by changing the discs of your cookie press. Sprinkle cookies with coloured sugar before baking if desired.

- 1 cup butter softened
- 1 1/4 cup sifted icing sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- decorator Icing (optional)
In bowl, cream butter thoroughly; gradually blend in sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour with salt ; blend into creamed mixture.
Fill cookie press with batches of dough and press out shapes onto ungreased baking sheets. (If dough becomes too soft to hold shapes, chill.) Bake in 375°F (190°C) oven for 5 to 10 minutes or just until beginning to brown around edges. Let cool on wire racks. Spread with Decorator Icing (if using)
