Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter , melted1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 cups vanilla yogurt , optional2 cups vanilla yogurt or vanilla frozen yogurt, optional

Preparation

Peel and core apples; cut into 1/4-inch (5 mm) thick slices. In bowl, toss together apples, cider and lemon juice; spread in 8-inch (2 L) square glass baking dish.

In separate bowl, toss together bread crumbs, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice; sprinkle over apples. Cover with foil. Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven just until tender, about 45 minutes.

Uncover and bake until bubbly and topping is golden and crispy, about 20 minutes. Serve with frozen yogurt (if desired).
