Sliced oranges drizzled with a sweet sauce that has subtle undertones of cinnamon and a burst of mint make a perfect light dessert. If you like chocolate with your oranges, serve them with Chocolate Orange Sauce on the side instead of Orange Grand Marnier Sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 oranges
  • Orange Grand Marnier sauce
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh mint

Preparation

Using knife, remove skin and white pith of oranges. Cut into 1/4-inch (5 mm) thick slices; arrange on shallow platter or serving dish. (Make-ahead: Cover and refrigerate for up to 1 day.)

Drizzle sauce over orange slices; sprinkle with mint.

Additional information :

Orange Grand Marnier Sauce

1/2 cup (125 mL) granulated sugar
1/3 cup (75 mL) water
1 tbsp (15 mL) finely grated orange rind
1 cinnamon stick
2 whole cloves
2 tsp (10 mL) Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur

In small saucepan, bring sugar, water, orange rind, cinnamon stick and cloves just to boil; reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Strain into small bowl; add liqueur. Refrigerate until chilled, about 15 minutes. (Make-ahead: Cover and refrigerate for up to 1 day.)

Makes about 1/2 cup (125 mL), enough for 6 servings.
