Ingredients

  • 1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour 1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp ground ginger 1-1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 pinch salt 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts 1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts

Preparation

In saucepan, melt 1 cup (250 mL) of the chocolate with butter over low heat. Remove from heat; whisk in sugar and molasses. Whisk in eggs, 1 at a time, whisking well after each; whisk in vanilla.

In bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves and sa< whisk into chocolate mixture.

Stir in nuts and remaining chocolate. Spread in parchment paper–lined 9-inch (2.5 L) square metal cake pan. Bake in 325°F (160°C) oven until tester inserted in centre comes out clean, about 45 minutes. Let cool. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours. Cut into bars.
