Grilled Dessert French Toast

Fresh raspberries or blueberries may be used instead of strawberries. A simple drizzle of maple syrup is also delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 cup strawberries 1 cup strawberries
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 eggs 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup milk 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 6 slices pound cake , at least 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick6 slices pound cake, at least 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick
- Icing sugar Icing sugar
Preparation
Hull berries. In bowl, mash berries with sugar to form sauce; set aside.
In pie plate, whisk together eggs, milk and vanilla. Using 2 spatulas, dip pound cake slices into egg mixture for about 10 seconds per side.
Gently transer to greased grill; cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes per side or until lightly toasted. Serve at once with a dusting of icing sugar and strawberry sauce.
