These mini mouthfuls are so irresistible that you'll need to count on two or three per person. If you prefer, substitute 1/2 tsp (2 mL) vanilla for the liqueur.
For a pretty platter, use a variety of cookie cutters, such as butterflies, dragonflies or flowers.
Key limes are tiny and full of intense flavour. If you can't find them, regular limes will work just fine.
These cakes are inspired by financiers, the rich almond cakes that are a French pastry shop favourite. We used Nordic Ware mini cake and candy moulds for the photo, but mini tart or muffin tins are suitable, too.
