Capitalize on the summer harvest with this deliciously spiced compote. Luscious ripe nectarines are more flavourful when warmed for this dessert. Serve with vanilla ice cream for a wonderfully decadent seasonal treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 nectarines 4 nectarines
  • 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 tbsp packed brown sugar 3 tbsp packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp cinnamon or nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans , toasted1/3 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Preparation

Halve and pit nectarines; cut each half into 4 wedges. Set aside.

In large skillet, melt butter with sugar over medium heat. Add cinnamon and nectarines; cover and cook over medium-high heat until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in pecans.
