For a special treat for the kids after brunch, serve this drink garnished with whipped cream and mini candy canes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 oz bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1-1/2 oz milk chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp peppermint extract

Preparation

In saucepan, bring milk, sugar and 1 cup (250 mL) water to boil over medium heat. Remove from heat.

Whisk in bittersweet and milk chocolates until melted. Stir in peppermint extract. (Make-ahead: Let cool; refrigerate in airtight container for up to 24 hours. Reheat to serve.)
