Peppermint Hot Chocolate

For a special treat for the kids after brunch, serve this drink garnished with whipped cream and mini candy canes.

  • 2 cups 2cupsmilk
  • 1 tbsp 1tbspgranulated sugar
  • 2 oz 2ozbittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1-1/2 oz 1-1/2ozmilk chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp 1/4tsppeppermint extract

In saucepan, bring milk, sugar and 1 cup (250 mL) water to boil over medium heat. Remove from heat.

Whisk in bittersweet and milk chocolates until melted. Stir in peppermint extract. (Make-ahead: Let cool; refrigerate in airtight container for up to 24 hours. Reheat to serve.)
