Nothing says harvesttime more than this comforting classic dessert.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced pitted plums 4 cups sliced pitted plums
  • 2 cups sliced peeled apples 2 cups sliced peeled apples
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Crumble:
  • 1 cup large-flake rolled oats 1 cup large-flake rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 Pinch salt 1 Pinch salt
  • 1/3 cup butter , cubed1/3 cup butter, cubed

Preparation

In large bowl, toss together plums, apples, sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon; spread in lightly greased 8-inch (2 L) square glass baking dish.

Crumble: In bowl, whisk together rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. With fingers or pastry blender, rub or cut in butter until mixture is in coarse crumbs. Scatter over plum mixture.

Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven until bubbly, fruit is tender and topping is golden, 40 to 60 minutes.
