Nothing says harvesttime more than this comforting classic dessert.
Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced pitted plums 4 4cups cupssliced pitted plumplums
- 2 cups sliced peeled apples 2 2cups cupssliced peeled appleapples
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1/3 1/3cup cuppacked brown sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour 2 2tbsp tbspall-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1/4 1/4tsp tspground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 1/4tsp tspground cinnamon
- Crumble:
- 1 cup large-flake rolled oats 1 1cup cuplarge-flake rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 1/2cup cupall-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1/3 1/3cup cuppacked brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 1/4tsp tspcinnamon
- 1 Pinch salt 1 1Pinch Pinchsalt
- 1/3 cup butter , cubed1/3 1/3cup cupbutter, cubed
Preparation
In large bowl, toss together plums, apples, sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon; spread in lightly greased 8-inch (2 L) square glass baking dish.
Crumble: In bowl, whisk together rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. With fingers or pastry blender, rub or cut in butter until mixture is in coarse crumbs. Scatter over plum mixture.
Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven until bubbly, fruit is tender and topping is golden, 40 to 60 minutes.
