Royal Icing (for Gingerbread Cookie Ornaments)
  • Portion size: 2-1/2 cups (625 mL)

Meringue powder is available at bulk or cake-decorating supply stores. For decorating, set aside 2 cups (500 mL) of this icing for the Icing Paint and use the remainder for piping the outlines.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup 1/4cupmeringue powder
  • 1/2 cup 1/2cupwater
  • 4-2/3 cups 4-2/3cupsicing sugar

Preparation

In bowl, beat meringue powder with water until foamy, about 2 minutes. Add icing sugar; beat until stiff, about 9 minutes. Cover with damp cloth to prevent drying out.
