Adding fruit to plain yogurt is a healthy option. The bacteria found in yogurt, called lactobacillus, works to maintain balance in the intestinal tract that sweetened products don't. Avoid non-fat dairy products, because your child needs fat for full brain development.

Servings: 2 cups (500 mL)

    1-1/2 cups (375 mL) full-fat plain yogurt
    1/2 cup (125 mL) raspberries, strawberries or blueberries (fresh or thawed and drained)
    Half banana, sliced
    1 tbsp (15 mL) maple syrup

Preparation:

In blender, purée together yogurt, raspberries, banana and maple syrup until smooth. (Make-ahead: Refrigerate in airtight container for up to 3 days.)
