Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh wild blueberries , thawed3 cups fresh wild blueberries or frozen wild blueberries, thawed
  • 3 strips (4- x 1-inch/10 x 2.5 cm) lemon zest , (white pith removed)3 strips (4- x 1-inch/10 x 2.5 cm) lemon zest, (white pith removed)
  • 1/2 vanilla bean , split lengthwise1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
  • 1 bottle (750 mL) vodka 1 bottle (750 mL) vodka

Preparation

In large glass bowl, mash blueberries lightly. Add lemon zest and vanilla bean; stir in vodka. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand in cool place, stirring occasionally, for 3 days.

Strain through cheesecloth-lined sieve into clean jar, pressing solids to extract liquid. Discard solids. (Make-ahead: Refrigerate for up to 1 month.)
