    1 tbsp (15 mL) vegetable oil
    1 Spanish onion, thinly sliced
    1 tbsp (15 mL) wine vinegar
    1 tsp (5 mL) granulated sugar
    2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
    1 tsp (5 mL) dried thyme
    1/4 tsp (1 mL) each salt and pepper

Preparation:

In skillet, heat oil over medium-low heat; cook onion, vinegar, sugar, garlic, thyme, salt and pepper, stirring occasionally, for about 25 minutes or until caramelized.
