I just bought your Slow Cooker Recipe magazine. I was wondering if you could make the recipes without a slow cooker and what the average times and temperatures might be.

Cooking time for recipes will vary from recipe to recipe, but generally speaking: pot roasts take about 3 hours after browning: stews take about 1-1/2 half hours of simmering after browning and one pot chicken dishes tend to take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. If you have The Complete Canadian Living Cookbook or another general reference cookbook you can possibly match times more accurately. Sincerely, Elizabeth Baird
