Chewy Apple Berry Smoothie

Because we've included the skins on the apples, lots of fibrous blueberries and strawberries as well as wheat bran, each serving of this refreshing smoothie has a hefty 6.1 g of the recommended minimum of 25 g of fibre per day. You can, of course, peel the apples if you prefer a smoother, less chewy texture.

    2 Golden Delicious apples (unpeeled)
    1 cup (250 mL) milk
    1/2 cup (125 mL) each frozen blueberries and strawberries
    1/2 cup (125 mL) plain yogurt
    2 tbsp (25 mL) wheat bran
    2 tsp (10 mL) liquid honey

Preparation:

Core and dice apples; place in blender. Add milk; blend for 2 minutes.

Add frozen blueberries, strawberries, yogurt, wheat bran and honey; purée until smooth.
