Chocolate Cookie Dough

Divide this brownielike dough to make hats and Broomstick Cookies.

Ingredients:

4 oz (125 g) unsweetened chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup (175 mL) butter, softened
1 cup (250 mL) packed brown sugar
3/4 cup (175 mL) granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
2 cups (500 mL) all-purpose flour
1/3 cup (75 mL) cocoa powder
1/2 tsp (2 mL) baking soda
1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt
Preparation:
In heatproof bowl over saucepan of hot (not boiling) water, melt chocolate, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, in bowl, beat together butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla. Beat in chocolate.
In separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt ; stir into butter mixture in 2 additions to make smooth dough. Divide in half.
Makes enough dough for about 70 cookies.
