Use your favourite apples for this applesauce. Serve with Mini Potato Zucchini Latkes (see recipe link below) and enjoy the leftover applesauce on its own.

Ingredients

  • 4 apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 cup apple cider or water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Preparation

In saucepan, bring chopped apples, cider and sugar to boil over medium heat. Reduce heat, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 25 minutes.

Mash apple mixture with potato masher until chunky. Stir in lemon juice. Let cool to room temperature. (Make-ahead: Refrigerate in airtight container for up to 3 days.)

Additional information : Serve with: Mini Potato Zucchini Latkes
