This is the popular dry version, but for the original martini, double the vermouth. If guests choose just cocktail onions for the garnish, they will have the classic Gibson.

Ingredients

Preparation

In pitcher, stir gin with vermouth. Top with ice; stir until well chilled.

Set out bowls of olives, lemon rind strips and onions for guests to spear on cocktail picks and place in glasses. Strain martini into glasses.

Variation
Calvados Martini: Use Calvados instead of vermouth. Omit olives, lemon rind and onions; garnish with 8 slices apple.
