4 tips to store and preserve spices

Part of having a well-stocked pantry is making sure that you have the right arsenal of spices at your disposal. Just as crucial, however, is making sure they're stored and handled properly so they can indeed flavour your dishes as they should. Here are a few words of wisdom when it comes to spices!

1. Keep your spices in airtight containers to preserve their freshness.

2. Store your spices in a dark, cool place, away from light and humidity.

3. Spices do have a shelf life and will lose potency over time, so make sure to replace your spices every 6 months.

4. Because spices are generally used in such small amounts, try to buy better quality spices in smaller quantities.
