How Much Pasta to Cook

By The Canadian Living Test Kitchen

•For main-course servings, count on 12 oz to I lb (375 to 500 g) for 4 servings.

• In all our recipes, short pasta such as fusilli is measured in cups (mL) wherever possible; spaghetti and other long-strand pastas are measured by weight. If you don't have a kitchen scale, wrap a tape measure around a bundle of pasta to measure the circumference:
• About 2 1/2 inches (6 cm) = 3 oz (90 g) = 1 serving
• About 4 1/2 inches (11 cm) = 8 oz (250 g) = 2 to 3 servings
• About 5 1/4 inches (13 cm) = 12 oz (375 g) = 3 to 4 servings
• About 5 3/4 inches (14 cm) = 1 lb (500 g) = 4 servings
