Ingredients

    1-1/2 cups (375 mL) whole_wheat_flour (approx)
    1-1/2 cups (375 mL) all-purpose_flour
    2 tbsp (25 mL) baking_powder
    1 tbsp (15 mL) granulated_sugar
    1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt
    1/2 cup (125 mL) cold butter
    1 cup (250 mL) milk
    1/2 cup (125 mL) halved cranberries

Preparation

In large bowl, mix together whole wheat and all-purpose flours, baking powder, sugar and salt ; with pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse bread crumbs. Gradually add milk to make soft dough. Mix in cranberries.

Press into 1-inch (2.5 cm) high 7-inch (18 cm) diameter circle. Place on rimmed baking sheet; score into 8 wedges, cutting almost but not completely through. Sprinkle with 1 tbsp (15 mL) more whole wheat flour. Bake in centre of 425°F (220°C) oven until lightly browned, about 30 minutes.
