Served with either chips or vegetable crudites, these dips won't last long on a holiday table.

1/2 cup (125 mL) sour cream
1/2 cup (125 mL) cream cheese
1/2 cup (125 mL) mayonnaise
Pinch each salt and pepper
Herbs:
1/4 tsp (1 mL) each dried oregano and thyme
1/4 tsp (1 mL) each garlic and onion powder
Preparation:
In food processor, pulse together sour cream, cream cheese, mayonnaise, salt and pepper until combined.

Creamy Curry Dip: Omit salt, pepper and Herbs. Substitute 1 tbsp (15 mL) mild curry paste and 1/4 tsp (1 mL) ground turmeric.
Creamy Red Pepper Dip: Omit Herbs. Substitute 2 roasted red peppers, patted dry; 1 clove garlic, minced; and 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried basil.
Creamy Caramelized Onion Dip: Omit salt, pepper and Herbs. In large saucepan, heat 2 tbsp (25 mL) vegetable oil over medium-low heat; cook 1 Spanish onion, thinly sliced; 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried thyme; and pinch each salt and pepper until tender and golden, 30 minutes. Add to food processor along with 1 tsp (5 mL) red wine vinegar.
Creamy Avocado Dip: Omit Herbs. Substitute 1 avocado, peeled and chopped; 1 green onion, sliced; and 1 tbsp (15 mL) lime juice.
