This traditionally calls for Armagnac, but other less expensive brandies are delicious too. Stylish and fun, it's a perfect choice for parties and formal events.

Ingredients

  • Ice cubes
  • 1/2 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/8 oz Armagnac or brandy
  • 1/8 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1/2 tsp simple syrup, (see below)
  • 3 oz chilled champagne
  • Orange twist

Preparation

Place a few ice cubes in mixing glass. Add orange juice, Armagnac, Grand Marnier and syrup; stir to blend and chill. Strain into champagne glass. Top with Champagne. Garnish with orange.

Additional information : Simple Syrup is used in cocktails because it mixes better than sugar.
To make: In measuring cup, whisk together 1/2 cup (125 mL) each granulated sugar and boiling water until clear and sugar is dissolved. Makes 3/4 cup (175 mL).
