Banquet Burgers with Canadian Cheddar

2 tbsp (25 mL) water
1/4 cup (50 mL) dry bread crumbs
1 small onion, grated
1 tbsp (15 mL) Dijon mustard
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp (2 mL) each salt and pepper
1 lb (500 g) lean ground beef
4 slices Canadian Cheddar cheese
4 slices cooked bacon
4 hamburger bun
In large bowl, beat egg with water; stir in bread crumbs, onion, Dijon mustard, garlic, salt and pepper. Add beef; mix just until combined. Shape into four 1/2-inch (2 cm) thick patties.
Place patties on greased grill over medium heat; close lid and grill, turning once, until digital thermometer inserted sideways into centre reads 160°F (71°C), about 15 minutes.
Top each burger with cheese and bacon; grill until cheese is melted, about
5 minutes. Sandwich in bun.
