What's local now?
But if you're trying to eat locally this month, what could possibly be available at the end of winter? On Friday April 11th at the Berkeley Church in Toronto, the The Brewer's Plate Toronto event - a celebration of craft beer and fine cuisine - will prove that at the end of a harsh Canadian winter there's plenty of local food to eat.
For $150 per person, The Brewer's Plate Toronto will feature artisanal cheeses, breads, sausages, stews of wild game and root vegetables, pickles and preserves of every description from Jamie Kennedy Kitchens, La Palette, Veritas, Cowbell, the Gladstone and Rebel House. Libations from local independent craft breweries include Mill Street, Cameron’s Wellington, Church-Key, Steam Whistle and Black Oak, used either in the recipes or paired specific cuisines.
