Increasing food literacy is one of the tenets of Six by Sixteen, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture food literacy program that Canadian Living and Canada Beef partnered with for the CL Cook Together hands-on family cooking event.
“Families are getting out of touch with food and getting really reliant on processed food and packaged goods,” says Joyce Parslow of Canada Beef. Empowering kids to become involved in cooking from scratch helps teach them food literacy, while also naturally increasing the nutritional value of the meals families consume.
