Serve these Chinese-inspired burgers topped with Napa Slaw on sesame buns.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce or soy sauce
- 1 tbsp dry sherry
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce
- 1 cup finely chopped green onions
- 1/3 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (optional)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tsp grated gingerroot
- 1/2 tsp white pepper or pepper
- 1 lb (500 g) lean ground pork
Preparation
In bowl, beat together egg, soy sauce, fish sauce, sherry, sesame oil and hot pepper sauce. Stir in onions, bread crumbs, jalape?epper (if using), garlic, ginger and white pepper. Add pork; mix just until combined. Shape into four 3/4-inch (2 cm) thick patties. (Make-ahead: Wrap, separated by waxed paper, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours or freeze for up to 1 month; thaw in refrigerator.)
Place on greased grill over medium heat; close lid and grill, turning once, until no longer pink inside and digital thermometer inserted sideways into centre reads 160°F (71°C), about 15 minutes.
