Flavoured with maple and mustard, smoky, sweet bacon makes for an extremely quick and truly tasty supper. Serve with Quick Roasted Butternut Squash.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup 1/4cupmaple syrup
- 2 tbsp 2tbspDijon mustard
- 1 1pinch pepper
- 1 lb 1lbpeameal bacon
Preparation
In small bowl, combine maple syrup, Dijon mustard and pepper; set half aside for serving.
Cut bacon into 8 generous 1/4-inch (5 mm) thick slices. Brush 1 side of each with half of the remaining mustard mixture.
In batches, place bacon slices, mustard-side down, on greased nonstick grill pan or in skillet over medium-high heat. Brush slices with remaining mustard mixture; grill for about 5 minutes or until bottom is browned.
Turn and grill for about 3 minutes or until browned. Serve with reserved mustard mixture.

Quick Roasted Butternut Squash
Peel and cut 1 butternut squash into 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes; toss with 1 tbsp (15 mL) vegetable oil. Spread on foil or parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Bake in 425°F (220°C) oven for about 25 minutes or until tender, stirring halfway through. Season with pinch each ground nutmeg and salt.
