Rolled oats can be substituted for the barley and whole wheat flakes, which, along with flax seed, are available in bulk and health food stores.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/3 cups rolled oats
  • 1-1/3 cup barley flakes
  • 1-1/3 cups whole wheat flakes
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup flax seeds
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Preparation

In large bowl, combine rolled oats, barley flakes, whole wheat flakes, raisins, sunflower seeds, flax seed and cinnamon. Store in airtight container.

For 1 serving: Combine 1/3 cup (75 mL) mix and 2/3 cup (150 mL) hot water. Microwave, uncovered, at High for 1-1/2 to 2 minutes or until desired consistency, stirring once. Let stand for 1 minute.
