Hot Pomegranate Apple Cider

This spiced cider is not only a delicious starter but also a boost of nutrition. Pomegranates are loaded with vitamins B and C, potassium, folic acid and iron and are high in antioxidants, which may play a role in the prevention of cancer and heart disease.

Preparation:

In 4-inch (10 cm) square of cheesecloth, tie together cinnamon, cloves, allspice and ginger; place in saucepan.

Add apple cider, pomegranate juice and honey; bring to simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Additional Information

  • Tip: If the cider becomes cloudy while heating, strain through cheesecloth-lined sieve before serving.
