Keep this punch warm in a slow cooker or on the stove top.
Ingredients
- 8 cups 8cupssweetened apple cider
- 2 cups 2cupsspiced rum
- 6 6clovecloves
- 4 4star anise
- 4 4green cardamom podgreen cardamom pods
- 1 1cinnamon stickcinnamon sticks
- 1 1strip (2 inch/5 cm) lemon rind Garnish:
- 1 1appleapples, cored and sliced
- 2 tbsp 2tbsplemon juice
Preparation
In saucepan over medium-high heat, bring cider, rum, cloves, star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, lemon rind and 2 cups (500 mL) water just to simmer. Reduce heat to low; cook, without simmering, for 10 minutes.
Garnish: Toss apple with lemon juice; stir into punch.
Additional information : Variation
Hot Rum-Spiced Apple Cranberry Cider: Substitute apple cranberry cider for the apple cider. Garnish with 1/3 cup (75 mL) fresh cranberries.
