Keep this punch warm in a slow cooker or on the stove top. 

Ingredients

  • 8 cups 8cupssweetened apple cider
  • 2 cups 2cupsspiced rum
  • 6 6clovecloves
  • 4 4star anise
  • 4 4green cardamom podgreen cardamom pods
  • 1 1cinnamon stickcinnamon sticks
  • 1 1strip (2 inch/5 cm) lemon rind
  • Garnish:
  • 1 1appleapples, cored and sliced
  • 2 tbsp 2tbsplemon juice

Preparation

In saucepan over medium-high heat, bring cider, rum, cloves, star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, lemon rind and 2 cups (500 mL) water just to simmer. Reduce heat to low; cook, without simmering, for 10 minutes.

Garnish: Toss apple with lemon juice; stir into punch.

Additional information : Variation
Hot Rum-Spiced Apple Cranberry Cider: Substitute apple cranberry cider for the apple cider. Garnish with 1/3 cup (75 mL) fresh cranberries.
