Vegetarian party foods

From Mushroom Maki Rolls to Golden Potato Latkes and Vegetarian Salad Rolls, your guests are sure to find something they love in our list of 20 colourful and easy-to-make vegetarian party foods.

You can make some of these dishes ahead of time so you won't feel rushed on the day of your party.

Kick things off with our Layered Mexican Dip. It's achieved a cult classic status since it first appeared in an issue in 1988, and even the most dedicated meat eaters won’t be able to resist the colourful layers of cool sour cream, creamy avocado and sharp cheddar cheese.

Keeping your appetizers fresh

We asked Test Kitchen Food Specialists Amanda Barnier and Irene Fong how they keep appetizers fresh at a party. Here’s what they had to say:

• Make sure the food doesn't spoil. Keep cold appetizers in the fridge until the last minute.

• Give appetizers a four hour window. Don't bring everything out all at the same time, keep fresh ones in reserve and replace them as they run out.

• Serve temperature sensitive appetizers on a plate over crushed ice, or hot ones on warm plates.
