Barley is argued to be one of the oldest grains ever eaten, but today this ancient grain is more likely to appear in your brew than on your dinnerplate! With a subtle, nutty taste and pasta-like texture it's not-to-be-missed in hearty lunch and dinnertime meals.
Pearled barley takes 45 minutes to cook but its plump, satisfying texture makes it worth the wait. Whole grain (or hulled) barley takes longer to cook—about 2 hours—but exceeds the pearled variety in nutritional value.
