Canada's favourite - Cheddar cheese - and smoked turkey give new flavours to familiar French toast.
Ingredients
- 4 eggs 4 4eggeggs
- 2/3 cup milk 2/3 2/3cup cupmilk
- 2 tsp chopped fresh thyme 2 2tsp tspchopped fresh thyme
- 1/4 tsp pepper 1/4 1/4tsp tsppepper
- 1 pinch salt 1 1pinch pinchsalt
- 8 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick white bread 8 81-inch (2.5 cm) thick white bread
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard 1 1tbsp tbspDijon mustard
- 4 oz old Cheddar cheese , thinly sliced4 4oz ozold cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
- 4 oz smoked turkey , thinly sliced4 4oz ozsmoked turkey, thinly sliced
- 2 tsp butter 2 2tsp tspbutter
Preparation
In large shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, chopped thyme, pepper and sa< set aside.
Spread 4 of the bread slices with mustard; top with cheese and turkey. Sandwich with remaining bread. Dip into egg mixture, turning to soak well.
In large nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium heat; cook sandwiches, turning once, until browned and cheese is melted, about 6 minutes.
