Moustache and Lips Straw Cookies

Drink a milkshake with these hilarious cookies that slide right onto your straw. If you can't find the right cookie cutters, just draw the shapes onto a thin piece of cardboard and cut them out. Place the templates on the cookie dough and use a sharp knife to trace around them. Serve with our Neapolitan Milkshake.

Let dough stand at room temperature until soft enough to roll out, about 15 minutes.

Between parchment paper, roll out dough, 1 disc at a time, to ¼-inch (5 mm) thickness; peel off top paper. Using lightly floured moustache- and lip-shaped cookie cutters, cut out shapes, rerolling and cutting scraps.

Arrange shapes, 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart, on separate sheet of parchment paper; slide onto rimless baking sheet. Using end of a bendable straw, cut a hole in centre of each shape. Bake in 375ºF (190ºC) oven until bottoms and edges are light golden, about 10 minutes.

Using straw, recut centre holes. Let cookies cool on pan on rack for 1 minute. Transfer to rack; let cool completely.

Tint half of the icing with brown food colouring; spoon into piping bag fitted with star tip. On each moustache, pipe strips from centre out to edges. Tint remaining icing with red food colouring; using small palette knife, spread over each set of lips. Dip lips into decorating sugar. Let dry, about 20 minutes.

Insert straw through each cookie.
