Serve this simple but flavourful appetizer with toothpicks before you sit down at the table.
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp butter 3 3tbsp tbspbutter
- 1/3 cup finely diced shallots 1/3 1/3cup cupfinely diced shallotshallots
- 1 lb button mushrooms , trimmed1 1lb lbbutton mushroombutton mushrooms, trimmed
- 1 tsp chopped fresh thyme , (or 1/4 tsp/ 1 mL dried)1 1tsp tspchopped fresh thyme, (or 1/4 tsp/ 1 mL dried)
- 1/4 salt 1/4 1/4salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper 1/4 1/4tsp tsppepper
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 1/8 1/8tsp tspcayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup riesling wine 1/2 1/2cup cupriesling wine
Preparation
In large skillet, heat butter over medium heat; cook shallots for 3 minutes. Stir in mushrooms, thyme, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper; cook until richly browned, about 5 minutes.
Pour in wine; bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring, until no liquid remains, about 5 minutes. Serve warm.
