Capitalize on the summer harvest with this deliciously spiced compote. Luscious ripe nectarines are more flavourful when warmed for this dessert. Serve with vanilla ice cream for a wonderfully decadent seasonal treat.

4 nectarines
1/4 cup (50 mL) butter
3 tbsp (50 mL) packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp (2 mL) cinnamon or nutmeg
1/3 cup (75 mL) chopped pecans, toasted
Preparation:
Halve and pit nectarines; cut each half into 4 wedges. Set aside.
In large skillet, melt butter with sugar over medium heat. Add cinnamon and nectarines; cover and cook over medium-high heat until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in pecans.
