Tested Till Perfect

Sprout your own chlorophyll-rich wheat grass indoors. It aids cats' digestion and is a perfect way to satisfy their cravings and keep them out of your houseplants. Look for wheat berries in the cereal or health food aisle of your grocery store.

Ingredients:

Preparation:

Place wheat berries in wide-mouth jar. Cover with cheesecloth; secure with rubber band.

Add enough water to cover wheat berries; swish and drain. Fill jar halfway with filtered or spring water; let soak for 8 hours. Drain.

Fill pot or tray with drainage half to two-thirds full of soil or potting mix. (Ensure medium does not contain artificial chemicals or fertilizers.)

Sprinkle wheat berries across soil so just touching. Mist well with filtered or spring water until wet but not swampy.

Cover with plastic wrap, leaving 1 side loose for ventilation. Let stand for about 3 days, misting lightly with water daily to keep just moist (too much water may cause mould).

Uncover and put in bright light for 5 to 8 days, keeping moist, or until grass is about 5 inches (12 cm) tall.
