Easiest-ever harvest apple recipes

All the signs of fall are here: heaping baskets of produce, including an abundance of apple varieties, at local farmers’ markets and grocery stores. On a sunny day, why not visit an apple orchard and pick your own? It’s a wonderful way to spend some time in the beautiful outdoors.

Even if you can't make it out to the orchard, there's an abundance of apples in your local grocery store. Take advantage of this year's crop with these quick and easy apple recipes.

Apples for breakfast
On a leisurely weekend morning, heat up the waffle iron to make Whole Wheat Waffles with Sautéed Apples and Cranberries. Or, use a skillet and flip some pancakes instead. Either way, the apple-infused topping makes a tasty change from maple syrup.

No time for waffles? We’ve got a refreshing breakfast-in-a-glass for you. Speedy Chewy Apple Berry Smoothie is speedy and nutritious.

Easy apple sauce
Whether as a condiment with roast pork, as an after-school snack or dessert for the family, applesauce doesn’t get any quicker or easier to make than Microwave Chunky Cinnamon Applesauce. Certain apple varieties are better suited to turning into sauce than others. Seek out Empire, Fuji or Gravenstein apples for best results.

Yummy apple desserts
Baked apples are simple to prepare and make a fabulous ending to any mealtime occasion. Apples and hazelnuts make a delicious combination in Honey Hazelnut Baked Apples with Rum Sauce. Or, our Caramel Apples (image featured above) are a great way to spend a fun afternoon with the kids.

With textures and flavours ranging from crisp and sour to soft and sweet, apples lend an autumnal touch to many sweet and savoury dishes. These quick and easy recipes are a tribute to the glorious fall season.
