Honey Whole Wheat Scones

Ingredients

  • 1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2-1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup liquid honey
  • 1 egg

Preparation

Whisk flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter until in coarse crumbs. Whisk buttermilk, honey and egg; stir into flour mixture to make shaggy dough. Pat into 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick round on parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Cut into 8 to 12 wedges; do not separate. Bake in 400°F (200°C) oven for 25 minutes or until top is firm to the touch. Let cool.
