Start with Chunky Gazpacho Soup.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 green onion, minced
- 1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp chopped fresh thyme
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp pepper
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 red onion
- 4 whole grain hamburger buns or onion buns, split
- Dijion Spread
- 3 tbsp light mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 small clove of garlic, minced
Preparation
In bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup (50 mL) water, egg, green onion, bread crumbs, vinegar, mustard, thyme, Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 tsp (2 mL) each of the salt and pepper. Add beef; mix just until combined. Shape into four 3/4-inch (2 cm) thick patties.
Cut red onion into 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick rings; sprinkle with remaining salt and pepper. Place burgers and onion on greased grill over medium heat or under broiler; close lid and grill, turning once, until digital thermometer inserted sideways into centre registers 160°F (71°C), about 15 minutes.
Dijon Spread:
Whisk together mayonnaise, mustard and garlic; spread on buns. Sandwich burgers and onions in buns.
