Almond Butter Blossoms

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter soften
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 12 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons finely ground almonds

Method

Preheat oven 350 F. In a large bowl, beat butter & almond butter with electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. add 1/2 c sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar, & salt. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl. Beat in egg, milk, vanilla, until combined. Beat in whole wheat flour & as much of the all purpose flour as you can with mixer, stir in remaing flour.In a shallow dish combine 3 tbsp of sugar and finely ground almonds. Shape dough into 1" balls, roll in sugar mixture to coat. Place balls 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 - 10 minutes or until edges are firm & tops are cracked. Remove from oven, immediately press a chocolate kiss in center of each cookie. Transfer to wire rack to cool. Makes 48 - 60 cookies
