Cava Sangria

This Spanish punch is a blend of wine, spirits and fruit. This recipe uses sparkling wine, but we've included a classic red wine variation as well. When nectarines and peaches are in season, add them to the mix.

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 lime
  • 1 orange
  • 1 apple
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) cava
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) sparkling dry white wine
  • 2 cups ice cubes

Method

Quarter lemon, lime, orange and apple; seed and thinly slice. Place slices in pitcher; stir in sugar and salt. Let stand for 1 hour. (Makeahead: Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 days.)

Add brandy; slightly mash fruit. Stir in cava and ice. Serve immediately.
