This classic grilled sandwich gets an updated edge with tender pork and tangy chili sauce. If Jarlsberg is unavailable, substitute another stretchy-when-melted cheese, such as Swiss.

Ingredients

  • 2 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • pinch salt
  • 4 teaspoons tomato- based chili sauce
  • 4 rye bread
  • 60 g sliced Jarlsberg cheese
  • 1/2 cup Slow Cooker Shredded Pork
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Method

In shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, pepper and salt. Set aside.

Spread chili sauce over 2 slices of the bread; top with cheese and pork. Spread mustard over remaining bread slices; arrange over pork, mustard side down. Soak sandwiches in egg mixture, about 2 minutes per side.

In nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat; cook sandwiches, turning once, until golden and cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.
