Chocolate Macaroons

Everyone has a recipe for these. I like mine the best.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups quick cooking rolled oats
  • 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


Prepare a large area with wax paper to drop cookies.

In a large pot, melt butter and add sugar and milk. Stir constantly.

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and boil for 2 minutes. If cookies are too dry, it might be because of boiling for too long.

Remove from heat, and add vanilla and stir.

Add dry ingredients and stir until mixed.

Drop cookies onto wax paper in your favorite size. Let cool, and enjoy.
