Cottage Cheese Pie

This is a family recipe and is great as a main course but tastes a bit like dessert. It's like having a pan full of cheese blintzes with one-tenth the work.

  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup Crisco shortening
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cups milk
  • 500 g dry cottage cheese (filling)
  • 2 eggs (filling)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (filling)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (filling)
  • 1 pinch salt


Make the dough. Cream butter, crisco, sugar, beaten eggs. Add milk, flour. Mix till smooth. Melt butter (filling). Mix filling together. Put half the dough in a greased 8x12 pan (or 8X8). Then add filling. Then add the remainder of the dough. Bake 30-45 mins in 350 degree oven. To serve: Cut and add sour cream and frozen strawberries in syrup.
