Perk up your fave veggies with our velvety five-ingredient cheese sauce! Use at least a medium Cheddar for this simple cheese sauce, or try a sharper old or extra-old cheese for a bolder flavour. Serve over steamed veggies, such as asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts or baked potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese medium, old or extra-old
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • pinch salt

Method

In small saucepan, whisk flour with 3 tbsp of the milk until smooth; gradually whisk in remaining milk. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in Cheddar, mustard and salt until melted and smooth.
