My grandmother made a lot of things that were delicious. This is one of the easiest to recreate. I found something similar called a "shipwreck" Whatever its called, its well liked.

  • 1 lb ground beef cooked and drained
  • 3/4 cups long grain rice
  • 3 carrots peeled and chopped
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1 can mushrooms sliced and drained
  • 3 potatoes peeled and sliced lengthways
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can water
  • 2 tablespoons seasoning salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper


In a deep casserole dish, layer the cooked ground beef, rice and remaining ingredients in order given. Mix tomato soup with water and seasoning salt and pepper. Pour over beef, vegetable layers. Cover and bake at 350 F for 1 to 1 1/4 hours. Let sit for 10 minutes or so before serving.
